    Abstract:

Applications: The present invention discloses a method for dehazing images and/or videos in real time based on Color Uniformity Principle (CUP). The method receives by an image acquisition system, an image or video having one or more hazy regions. Subsequently, the method computes a Color Uniformity Metric and estimates transmission map for the received image or video based on the Color Uniformity Principle, wherein the computation and estimation is done by a hardware. Thereafter, the method estimates by the hardware, atmospheric scattering parameter using the transmission map and recovers radiance by the hardware, for the image or video utilizing the transmission map and the atmospheric scattering parameter. Further, the method rectifies by the hardware the one or more hazy regions of the image or video by utilizing the recovered radiance by utilizing adaptive histogram equalization.
Advantages: 1. The present invention relates generally to the field of image processing and enhancement, and more particularly, to a method and system for dehazing images and videos in real-time by utilizing Colour Uniformity Principle (CUP). 2. An object of the present invention is to provide an improved method for dehazing videos in real-time by using Colour Uniformity Principle (CUP). 3 According to the present invention, dehazing is performed based on Colour Uniformity Principle (CUP), in order to meet desired real-time implementation requirements. The proposed method is suitable for but not limited to applications such as vision assisted vehicle navigation in hazy/foggy weather, smart surveillance in bad weather conditions and depth map estimation. 4. According to one aspect, the present invention provides a method for dehazing images and or videos in real time based on Color Uniformity Principle (CUP). The method receives by an image acquisition system, an image or video having one or more hazy regions.

THE VISION
THE MISSION
ABOUT I-STEM
It has always been the basic tenet of the Government of India, in generously funding R&D efforts at academic institutions over the years, that facilities established through such support be made available to those needing them and qualified to make use of them for their own research work

However, this was never easy or straightforward for, among other reasons, there was no ready source of information of what facility was available and where. Thanks to the Web, it is much easier today to have a national and regional “inventory of resources”, so as to match users with the resources they need, and to do all this in an efficient and transparent manner.

This can lead to a leap in R&D productivity and greatly enhance the effectiveness of public investment. This is the motivation behind I-STEM.
