    Abstract:

Applications: A self contained unit for travelers, recreational enthusiasts, military personnel, survivalists, and others for drinking water from untreated sources.
Advantages: A Portable Water Purification device is a self contained unit that can be used by recreational enthusiasts, military personnel, survivalists, and others who must obtain drinking water from untreated sources (e.g., rivers, lakes, etc.). It helps in purifying water on site, and the purification quality is comparable to the purifiers available in the market today using the germicidal properties of Ultra Violet light. While not strictly purifying water to its essential compound, dihydrogen oxide (H2O) these devices render water potable i.e. safe for drinking purposes. The main innovation includes: 1. Use of three separate stages for processing the water in a portable device 2. Two shelled configuration which can be used to store twice the amount of water for travel 3. A feedback system which constitutes of a mobile application where data is collected and used for knowing the intake quality of water. 4. Self cleaning and reusable Cartridge design.

THE VISION
THE MISSION
ABOUT I-STEM
It has always been the basic tenet of the Government of India, in generously funding R&D efforts at academic institutions over the years, that facilities established through such support be made available to those needing them and qualified to make use of them for their own research work

However, this was never easy or straightforward for, among other reasons, there was no ready source of information of what facility was available and where. Thanks to the Web, it is much easier today to have a national and regional “inventory of resources”, so as to match users with the resources they need, and to do all this in an efficient and transparent manner.

This can lead to a leap in R&D productivity and greatly enhance the effectiveness of public investment. This is the motivation behind I-STEM.
