Please give more details of new technical application area:
ARNAV is a GIS based ocean database system. It has two modules i.e. ocean database management and GIS based visualisation, analysis and retrieval system. Database management module provides facility to import (ocean and upper air climatology data collected by Indian Navy ships using various instrument), edit, interpolate, blend based on open source Lavitus data, and plotting the same. System does basic quality check of data and highlights the errors such as ground lat - long, temperature and salinity with respect to open source Levitus data and depth order. GIS based module provides the functionality to visualize all imported ocean and upper air climatological data over world map to understand geographical distribution of the data. It provides the flexibility of statistical analysis, extract & saving data in text & csv format, visualisation in 2D & 3D environment, contour generation and map preparation.

THE VISION
THE MISSION
ABOUT I-STEM
It has always been the basic tenet of the Government of India, in generously funding R&D efforts at academic institutions over the years, that facilities established through such support be made available to those needing them and qualified to make use of them for their own research work

However, this was never easy or straightforward for, among other reasons, there was no ready source of information of what facility was available and where. Thanks to the Web, it is much easier today to have a national and regional “inventory of resources”, so as to match users with the resources they need, and to do all this in an efficient and transparent manner.

This can lead to a leap in R&D productivity and greatly enhance the effectiveness of public investment. This is the motivation behind I-STEM.
