    Abstract:

Applications: 1. Designed for enabling better calculus and arithmetic counting of numbers for youths. 2. Its main field of application is in Education sector. 3. It uses the technology of automation to teach the user on how to use an abacus. 4. It can be particularly helpful in skill development and education in remote areas. 5. Knowing the advantages that abacus has on students minds, it can be used as an assistive device in classroom teaching.
Advantages: 1. This Novel upgrade of abacus into an automatic abacus will facilitate the learning of the technique of calculations with the soroban abacus with ease. This means that one can learn abacus at one’s home in one’s convenient time. Further, schools (especially in the rural areas) can teach soroban abacus to the students easily using the Autobacus. 2. One can also save lots of time using this method instead of physical instruments or performing long tedious calculations manually. 3. The feature of the Autobacus being controlled by a simple Android application is of great advantage as the Autobacus can be programmed to perform a certain calculation and can also be run in loops for repetitive demonstration of its working for the sake of effective learning. 4. The availability of Android mobile phones everywhere also aids this technique to reach out to every darkest corner. (In absence of smartphones , there is also a provision of keys on the autobacus to give the desired input) 5. This will also ensure an increase in literacy rates as well as the quantity of quality students, learning abacus being a way to improve one o the mental ability by a significant measure. A good mental ability means that one learns things faster, is more creative and can solve problems fast and easily.

Thanks to the Web, it is much easier today to have a national and regional “inventory of resources”, so as to match users with the resources they need, and to do all this in an efficient and transparent manner.

This can lead to a leap in R&D productivity and greatly enhance the effectiveness of public investment. This is the motivation behind I-STEM.
