An effective processing methodology for the recovery of metals from waste lithium ion batteries (LIBs), wherein pure cobalt-nickel (Co-Ni) metal alloy is extracted in a single smelting step. The novel processing route employed is energy efficient, fast and easily scalable for plant scale operations.

    Abstract:

Applications: Co-Ni alloy find potential applications in jet engines, gas turbines, chemical processing, petroleum refining, marine, electronics and other applications where common stainless steels may not provide adequate performance. The technology leads to the wealth from waste with sellable value added products.

Thanks to the Web, it is much easier today to have a national and regional “inventory of resources”, so as to match users with the resources they need, and to do all this in an efficient and transparent manner.

This can lead to a leap in R&D productivity and greatly enhance the effectiveness of public investment. This is the motivation behind I-STEM.
