    Abstract:

Applications: A smart interface between a music teacher and a learner (singing or instrumental). It automatically detects mistakes in the learners performance, by comparing with recorded teachers performance or with the machine learning model. The next lessons for the learner are decided by the system (based on rule or reinforcement learning) so as to alleviate the learners mistakes. The system gives assessment report of each student to the teacher along with a confidence score. The teacher can pick assessments with low confidence and assess them her or himself thereby providing learning data to the system and feedback to the student.
Advantages: 1. In learning music (singing or instrumental) either in self learning mode or learning from respective teacher. 2. The learner may simply focus on the sound without any distraction as the next lesson will give implicit corrective feedback about his or her mistakes. 3. The teacher can expand his or her outreach as much of the assessment is done by the smart system. 4. The system estimates its confidence level for each assessment and asks the teacher to assess the low confidence cases. It not only passes on the teachers assessment to the student but itself learns from it too.

THE VISION
THE MISSION
ABOUT I-STEM
It has always been the basic tenet of the Government of India, in generously funding R&D efforts at academic institutions over the years, that facilities established through such support be made available to those needing them and qualified to make use of them for their own research work

However, this was never easy or straightforward for, among other reasons, there was no ready source of information of what facility was available and where. Thanks to the Web, it is much easier today to have a national and regional “inventory of resources”, so as to match users with the resources they need, and to do all this in an efficient and transparent manner.

This can lead to a leap in R&D productivity and greatly enhance the effectiveness of public investment. This is the motivation behind I-STEM.
