    Abstract:

Applications: An ecological and dehydrated toilet pan is developed which can be utilized for source separation of faeces, urine and wash water in composting and urine diverting dehydration toilets. The toilet pan is made of polymeric materials, preferably reinforced plastic, polyvinyl chloride, and high density polymers or metals, preferably restricted to brass or metal alloys and preferably not restricted to a mixture of brass and stainless steel. This system is to ensure covering of faeces drop-hole after use so as to enable proper dehydration of faeces collected in the chamber and also to maintain proper hygienic condition in the toilet. This pan which can be periodically washed with water or wiped using wet brush or cloth to clean it, when wash water bowl is in closed position covering the drop hole.
Advantages: This is an uncomplicated and extremely easy toilet pan to use. It is to provide comfort to the user's while practicing ablution. Ecological sanitation systems lead to saving the enormous quantities of fresh water. Feces and urine which require different treatment processes can be handled easily when separated at source Risks posed by diarrhea diseases due to unsafe disposal of human excreta can be mitigated

THE VISION
THE MISSION
ABOUT I-STEM
It has always been the basic tenet of the Government of India, in generously funding R&D efforts at academic institutions over the years, that facilities established through such support be made available to those needing them and qualified to make use of them for their own research work
read more >>

However, this was never easy or straightforward for, among other reasons, there was no ready source of information of what facility was available and where. Thanks to the Web, it is much easier today to have a national and regional “inventory of resources”, so as to match users with the resources they need, and to do all this in an efficient and transparent manner.

This can lead to a leap in R&D productivity and greatly enhance the effectiveness of public investment. This is the motivation behind I-STEM.
