    Abstract:

Applications: Promotes urban mining through recovery of rare earths oxides (Nd, Pr, Dy) from spent permanent magnets, thereby reduces environmental impacts and carbon foot-prints caused during primary production. The recovered materials find applications in manufacture of IT- products, photonics, solid state lighting and fibre optic communications, etc.
Advantages: Recovery of rare earths elements like Neodymium, Dysprosium and Praseodymium from spent permanent magnets using a simple and commercially viable hydrometallurgical route.

This can lead to a leap in R&D productivity and greatly enhance the effectiveness of public investment. This is the motivation behind I-STEM.
