    Abstract:

Applications: 1.IR spectroscopy helps us to get an idea about the different functional groups present in the system from their vibrational stretching frequencies which indicates whether the desired complexes have been formed or not. 2.Variable temperature measurement of IR spectra will give an insight into the change in vibrational stretching frequencies as a function of temperature. 3.Change in oxidation state and spin state of metal centers can be well interpreted from the VT-IR spectra that will help us to better study whether the system is showing any Metal-to-Metal Charge Transfer, Spin Cross-over, Metal-to-Metal Electron Transfer phenomenon, etc. In short, it will help us to design of bistable materials which finds manifold applications in storage devices, quantum computing, moecular sensing and spintronics.
Advantages: 1.Room temperature IR spectra gives us an idea about the chemical bonds present in the system. Whether our systems retain the same composition at different temperature can be understood by variable temperature IR spectra. 2.This type of VT-IR measurement setup is less expensive and user-friendly as compared to more expensive and complicated setup of other measurement such as PPMS and SQUID. It will give us a preliminary idea about the system before moving towards more sophisticated techniques.

THE VISION
THE MISSION
ABOUT I-STEM
It has always been the basic tenet of the Government of India, in generously funding R&D efforts at academic institutions over the years, that facilities established through such support be made available to those needing them and qualified to make use of them for their own research work

However, this was never easy or straightforward for, among other reasons, there was no ready source of information of what facility was available and where. Thanks to the Web, it is much easier today to have a national and regional “inventory of resources”, so as to match users with the resources they need, and to do all this in an efficient and transparent manner.

This can lead to a leap in R&D productivity and greatly enhance the effectiveness of public investment. This is the motivation behind I-STEM.
