Please give more details of new technical application area:
The present invention relate generally to a medical device and more specifically to a noninvasive device, system and apparatus for female urine collection to avoid infections while in coma or in supine condition. Use of Foley catheter may lead to urinary tract infection according to the study Prevalence of urinary tract infection sand current scenario of antibiotic susceptibility pattern of bacteria causing UTI conducted at the Microbiology department of a tertiary health care hospital in Mumbai. And published in 2018 the overall prevalence of UTI was 33 percent of which 67 percent were females and 33 were from males A non-invasive urine collecting device for female patients in supine or coma positions comprises a urine receiving member positioned between the legs perpendicular to urethra orifice. A concave shaped semi flexible device designed with number of spikes to prevent urine splash back and to direct it towards urine outlet channel The vaginal anchoring support balloon will be inflated through the non return air inlet valve with a measurable air pressure. Inflated balloon forms a comfortable cushioning inside vaginal opening area gripping the device with the surface. The vaginal shaped boundary of the device supported by the labia folds avoiding the outflow and thus makes the urine flow in to the outlet channel through the tube connected to urine drainage bag

    Abstract:

Applications: Large scale reduction in the UTI and secondary complications related to UTI in bed ridden patients. Reduction in the Burden on medical expenditure Evidence supports strategies to decrease the number of indwelling catheters to prevent CAUTIs in the acute care setting. However, this change can lead to secondary complications, specifically urinary incontinence. Urinary incontinence predisposes the epidermal layer of skin to damage by raising the pH, causing potential adverse outcomes such as pain, itching, burning, infection, or pressure injuries. Advantages: Female Urine Collection Device developed which is leak-proof and Non Invasive A new type of female catheter technology reduces inpatient catheter associated UTIs or CAUTIs The device adheres to the external genitalia by conforming to the perineal area between the labia and the urethra. This device is connected to low continuous suction which provides a sump mechanism to collect urine in a canister Urinary incontinence imposes physical, social, and economic hardships on those who face it For many pads and diapers are invaluable. Trails are done to examine the device for fit urine containment maintenance of vulvar skin integrity, and comfort and to describe microorganism changes to urine and periurethral and vaginal tissue in women wearing the device TP19766806525-adv.pdf

THE VISION
THE MISSION
ABOUT I-STEM
It has always been the basic tenet of the Government of India, in generously funding R&D efforts at academic institutions over the years, that facilities established through such support be made available to those needing them and qualified to make use of them for their own research work
read more >>

However, this was never easy or straightforward for, among other reasons, there was no ready source of information of what facility was available and where. Thanks to the Web, it is much easier today to have a national and regional “inventory of resources”, so as to match users with the resources they need, and to do all this in an efficient and transparent manner.

This can lead to a leap in R&D productivity and greatly enhance the effectiveness of public investment. This is the motivation behind I-STEM.
