The main objective of this invention is to maximize the utilization rate of supercapacitor (SC) in solar photovoltaic, lead acid battery, diesel generator connected autonomous DC microgrid (ADCMG) where the supercapacitor is used as a source for electric start system of diesel engine instead of a conventional lead acid battery. This converges to a novel configuration of ADCMG in comparison to a typical configuration of ADCMG. Merits of proposed configuration are cost savings, reliable cranking even under harsh environment and long idle periods, continuous monitoring and use of SC, and compensation of transients in DC bus voltage. Moreover, it ameliorates the life cycle of lead acid battery in ADCMG by sharing high frequency power oscillations arises due to supply-demand variations. Characteristics of the proposed configuration are verified by rigorous test analysis of developed prototype in the laboratory.

It has always been the basic tenet of the Government of India, in generously funding R&D efforts at academic institutions over the years, that facilities established through such support be made available to those needing them and qualified to make use of them for their own research work

However, this was never easy or straightforward for, among other reasons, there was no ready source of information of what facility was available and where.
