Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to a dielectric elastomer diaphragm based micro hydroelectric generator to convert hydraulic energy to electrical energy. In one embodiment, the hydro-generator includes a fixed frame, and a movable frame including a dielectric elastomer transducer unit, the movable frame is positioned at a predetermined distance from the fixed frame. The hydro- generator further includes a transmission mechanism system which is attached to the fixed frame, the transmission mechanism system including a water wheel, a power shaft and a moving link. The dielectric elastomer transducer unit of the movable frame and the movable link of the transmission mechanism system are coupled via a flexible cable or sting. During the flow of water from any ambient source impacts on water wheel of the transmission mechanism system, the combination of water wheel, powering shaft and movable link converts rotary motion of water wheel into translatory motion of the moving link, the dielectric elastomer stretches and relaxes as it is directly connected to movable link by the help of flexible cable thereby converting hydraulic energy 20 into electrical energy.

THE VISION
THE MISSION
ABOUT I-STEM
It has always been the basic tenet of the Government of India, in generously funding R&D efforts at academic institutions over the years, that facilities established through such support be made available to those needing them and qualified to make use of them for their own research work

However, this was never easy or straightforward for, among other reasons, there was no ready source of information of what facility was available and where. Thanks to the Web, it is much easier today to have a national and regional “inventory of resources”, so as to match users with the resources they need, and to do all this in an efficient and transparent manner.

This can lead to a leap in R&D productivity and greatly enhance the effectiveness of public investment. This is the motivation behind I-STEM.
