Abstract:
Mutliple/single material/s coating has been achieved in an enclosed environment using ball milling technique. Till now the ball milling apparatus was utilized only for the size reduction of the material but the inventors have utilised it to prepare multiple or single material coatings for technological applications. The substrate and coating materials need to be placed inside the vacuum or inert environment. The metallic balls of specific size are also placed inside the chamber along with coated material and substrate/s. the chamber is than rotated at a particular speed, inside the chamber ball and material strikes the substrate/s simultaneously, the kinetic energy of balls activates the surface onto which coating material get deposited.Coatingsdepends on the weight of coating material, weight of balls, ratio of weight of coating material to the weight of balls, size of coating material particles, percentage of binder in coating material, revolution per minute (rpm) of container and running time of ball milling apparatus.

THE VISION
THE MISSION
ABOUT I-STEM
It has always been the basic tenet of the Government of India, in generously funding R&D efforts at academic institutions over the years, that facilities established through such support be made available to those needing them and qualified to make use of them for their own research work

However, this was never easy or straightforward for, among other reasons, there was no ready source of information of what facility was available and where. Thanks to the Web, it is much easier today to have a national and regional “inventory of resources”, so as to match users with the resources they need, and to do all this in an efficient and transparent manner.

This can lead to a leap in R&D productivity and greatly enhance the effectiveness of public investment. This is the motivation behind I-STEM.
