Abstract:
Multi-plane phase-only Fresnel holograms have been synthesized using iterative phase retrieval algorithm. The combination of modified Gerchberg-Saxton algorithm and compensation iterative algorithm has been used for extracting the phase function from a complex multi-plane object function in the Fresnel domain. The combination helps synthesize phase-only holograms having high diffraction efficiencies. In this study, phase-only Fresnel holograms for three- and four-plane objects have been synthesized by taking object of different sizes and placing them in different planes of varying window sizes. The diffraction efficiency and mean square error of the reconstructed images in different planes of multi-plane objects have been calculated, which confirm the good quality of reconstructed images. Numerical simulation results have been presented. Three-dimensional recognition of multi-plane objects has also been presented using the obtained phase-only hologram. This study would help understand the reconstruction patterns of different planes of a multi-plane object which will be helpful in improving the reconstruction quality for three-dimensional holographic display.

THE VISION
THE MISSION
ABOUT I-STEM
It has always been the basic tenet of the Government of India, in generously funding R&D efforts at academic institutions over the years, that facilities established through such support be made available to those needing them and qualified to make use of them for their own research work

However, this was never easy or straightforward for, among other reasons, there was no ready source of information of what facility was available and where. Thanks to the Web, it is much easier today to have a national and regional “inventory of resources”, so as to match users with the resources they need, and to do all this in an efficient and transparent manner.

This can lead to a leap in R&D productivity and greatly enhance the effectiveness of public investment. This is the motivation behind I-STEM.
