    Abstract:

Applications: Subclinical mastitis is a condition where the dairy animal is affected by mastitis but does not show any physical symptoms, such as inflammation or abnormal milk. Correct diagnosis and at the early stage is very crucial, which is what our device is doing. Diagnosis of subclinical mastitis is, therefore, confirmed by a somatic cell count (SCC) of milk. However, SCC is expensive and time-consuming. A preliminary screening can be performed instead by California Mastitis Test (CMT). However, these methods are expensive and difficult to implement. A handheld device, method & networked environment to diagnose subclinical mastitis in dairy animals, which is difficult to diagnose, thus,it is crucial that it is diagnosed at an early stage. This is to ensure that precautions can be taken to prevent spread of diseases & also to ensure complete cure of affected animal. A device has been developed that detects mastitis, by considering electrical conductivity (EC) & other factors. It will measure the EC of milk from four udders & store
Advantages: Our device has a feedback system, i.e. if the algorithm missed or wrongly predicts mastitis, the user can raise an alarm. It will be reflected in the database and is taken into account when the algorithm retrains itself. Therefore, the feedback system will increase the accuracy of prediction with time.

THE VISION
THE MISSION
ABOUT I-STEM
It has always been the basic tenet of the Government of India, in generously funding R&D efforts at academic institutions over the years, that facilities established through such support be made available to those needing them and qualified to make use of them for their own research work
read more >>

However, this was never easy or straightforward for, among other reasons, there was no ready source of information of what facility was available and where. Thanks to the Web, it is much easier today to have a national and regional “inventory of resources”, so as to match users with the resources they need, and to do all this in an efficient and transparent manner.

This can lead to a leap in R&D productivity and greatly enhance the effectiveness of public investment. This is the motivation behind I-STEM.
