    Abstract:

Applications: "1) Many of the developed and developing nations are striving to deliver quality healthcare to their citizens. Due to the exploding population growth, the doctor to patient ratio is currently deteriorating. Notably, in rural areas, due to the lack of well-trained clinicians, offering quality diagnosis using ultrasonography is presently a significant challenge. 2) Delivery of quality healthcare to areas without proper medical facilities appears realizable with low financial investment. 3) The computer-aided diagnosis frameworks, in combination with telemedicine technologies, aid the clinicians in offering accurate and faster diagnoses remotely, and hence, are of at most use. 4) Smartphones as a medical device will play a major role in the way healthcare providers handle diagnostics, monitoring and provision of the diagnosis at the point-of-care."
Advantages: "1) Inexpensive and instant Point-of-Care (PoC). 2) Decentralization of healthcare. 3) Instant results by checking your symptoms in a medical diagnosis app. 4) Increased diagnostic accuracy. 5) Real-time data transmission and public health. 6) Affordable and accessible healthcare in your hands. 7) Evidence at the point of care to aid decision making. 8) Enhancements to workflow, automating mundane tasks, and streamlining work, never increasing physical or cognitive workload. THE VISION
THE MISSION
ABOUT I-STEM
It has always been the basic tenet of the Government of India, in generously funding R&D efforts at academic institutions over the years, that facilities established through such support be made available to those needing them and qualified to make use of them for their own research work

However, this was never easy or straightforward for, among other reasons, there was no ready source of information of what facility was available and where. Thanks to the Web, it is much easier today to have a national and regional “inventory of resources”, so as to match users with the resources they need, and to do all this in an efficient and transparent manner.

This can lead to a leap in R&D productivity and greatly enhance the effectiveness of public investment. This is the motivation behind I-STEM.
