I-STEM Coventor
Brief introduction to Coventor
Coventor provides highly advanced process modeling and design automation solutions used to invent the next generation of intelligent electronics. We are dedicated to the success of our customers, and solve real-world process development, design and integration problems for the semiconductor and MEMS industries. Coventor is helping to build a connected world of electronic devices that will improve the productivity and quality of life worldwide.
Semiconductor Solutions
With state-of-the-art fabs requiring multi-billion investments and technology growing ever more complex, the time and cost of trial-and-error silicon engineering have become unacceptable. The concurrent penalty for missing a market window has become extreme. Predictive, 3D process modeling with Coventor’s semiconductor process modeling software is an alternative approach that can dramatically reduce silicon learning cycles, cut development costs, and reduce the risk of missing a market window. Unlike actual wafer runs which take weeks to months, virtual fabrication takes minutes to hours to produce results.
MEMS Solutions
Micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) are fabricated with techniques similar to integrated circuits (ICs) and therefore leverage existing semiconductor industry infrastructure and economies of scale. These tiny sensors and actuators have enabled new functionality in smart phones, tablets and cars, and are critical to the Internet of Things (IoT). MEMS, however, present specialized engineering challenges, including non-standard fabrication processes, multi-physics interactions, integration with ICs, and custom packaging requirements. Off-the -shelf EDA tools and general purpose mechanical CAD/CAE tools do not adequately address these challenges, so MEMS developers have traditionally relied heavily on the time-consuming and costly build-and-test approach. Without a MEMS-specific design platform, it often takes years to bring a MEMS product to market.
The I-STEM Web Portal: a National Portal that is the gateway for researchers to locate the specific facility(ies) they need for their R&D work and identify the one that is either located closest to them or available the soonest.
To protect the IP involved in building the I-STEM Portal, a provisional patent application entitled, "A method and process for efficient use of geographically dispersed resources", has been filed with the Indian Patent Office.
