Description : Ion Chromatography (IC) is an analytical technique used to separate and quantify ions (anions and cations) in aqueous solutions. It is a subset of high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), optimized for the detection of ionic species with high precision and sensitivity. A standard IC system consists of the following components: Eluent Delivery System (Pump): Delivers a consistent flow of eluent (mobile phase) with controlled pressure and flow rate (usually between 0.5–2 mL/min). Eluent Reservoir and Degasser: Contains the mobile phase, usually carbonate or hydroxide buffer for anions, or dilute acids for cations. Sample Injector or Autosampler: Enables manual or automated sample introduction with high reproducibility. Analytical Column: Packed with ion exchange resin (anion or cation exchange type). Separates analytes based on ionic interactions with the stationary phase. Suppressor (optional but common): Reduces background conductivity from elu
