Revitalize dormant labs. Build accredited Testing-as-a-Service hubs. Be part of India’s scientific transformation.

The Accreditation Catalyst Model Centre (ACMC) initiative by I-STEM invites academic institutions, industry partners, startups, and investors to join a national network designed to convert idle scientific infrastructure into NABL/ISO-accredited Testing-as-a-Service (TaaS) Centres.

These Centres will function as regional catalysts for innovation, industry collaboration, and sustainable scientific growth.

Eligible institutions, industry partners, and investors can access the complete EOI document and submit their proposal online.

Overview of the ACMC Initiative

India has significant scientific infrastructure lying underutilized due to lack of accreditation, maintenance support, or industry linkage. The ACMC model transforms these assets into professionally managed, accredited hubs that offer reliable testing services to academia, industry, startups, and regional innovation clusters.

By joining the ACMC network, stakeholders help expand India’s quality testing capacity while creating sustainable operational and revenue models.

Key Objectives

  • Revitalize Existing Labs
Upgrade and accredit dormant or low-utilization equipment to NABL/ISO standards.
  • Strengthen Regional Innovation Ecosystems
Enable accredited TaaS capabilities in Tier-II and Tier-III regions.
  • Create Sustainable Revenue Models
Reinforce infrastructure growth using reinvested testing service income.

Who Can Participate?

The ACMC EOI is open to multiple stakeholder categories:

  • Academic & Research Institutions (Host Centres)
  • Industry Partners & Startups
  • CSR, Impact, and Government Investors

Strategic Benefits of Joining ACMC

  • Convert idle labs into revenue-generating, accredited TaaS hubs
  • Enable industry-grade testing for startups, MSMEs, and innovators
  • Strengthen academia–industry collaboration and regional technical capacity
  • Improve utilization and relevance of publicly funded research infrastructure
  • Contribute to India’s national quality, accreditation, and innovation goals

What the EOI Involves

Institutions and partners need to submit a proposal covering:

  • Existing equipment inventory and demand assessment
  • Accreditation roadmap and readiness plan
  • Regional need and impact justification
  • Governance participation commitments
  • Required survey responses and supporting documents

EOIs are evaluated on infrastructure readiness, accreditation preparedness, sustainability, regional impact, and utilization commitment.
