The I-STEM Ambassador Program is a national, voluntary initiative that empowers students, researchers, and professionals to champion shared scientific infrastructure and collaborative research across India.

As an I-STEM Ambassador, you become a trusted representative helping expand awareness, access, and impact of publicly funded R&D facilities.

Objective of the Ambassador Program

  • Build awareness of shared research infrastructure across India
  • Encourage responsible use and listing of publicly funded laboratories and equipment
  • Support onboarding of researchers and institutions onto the I-STEM portal
  • Strengthen regional collaboration through Catalyst Centres
  • Enable grassroots engagement within academic, research, and innovation ecosystems

What Does an I-STEM Ambassador Do?

I-STEM Ambassadors act as connectors, advocates, and enablers within their local and professional networks.

  • Promoting I-STEM among researchers, students, institutions, startups, and industry
  • Supporting user and institutional onboarding on the I-STEM portal
  • Encouraging institutions to list and share publicly funded facilities
  • Supporting outreach activities such as seminars, workshops, webinars, and demo sessions
  • Working closely with nearby I-STEM Catalyst Centers
  • Collecting feedback, success stories, and regional insights

Who Can Apply?

The program is open to individuals from the STEM ecosystem who are passionate about research collaboration and national capacity building.

  • Students: Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and PhD scholars (18+)
  • Working Professionals: Researchers, faculty members, scientists, and industry professionals
  • Retired Experts: Senior professionals with STEM experience

Nature of Engagement

  • Type: Voluntary (Unpaid)
  • Initial Term: 6 months
  • Students: ~4–6 hours/week
  • Professionals: ~5 hours/week
  • Mode: Hybrid (online and offline)
