I-RISE Operator Training Program (I-OTP) — Call for EOI

The Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser (PSA), Government of India, together with I-STEM, invites eligible institutions to host the I-RISE Operator Training Program (I-OTP).

The initiative prepares operators, technicians, and young researchers to efficiently run India’s high-end scientific infrastructure through hands-on training.

About the Program

The I-RISE Operator Training Program transforms laboratories into training hubs by enabling:

  • Hands-on training in operating, maintaining & calibrating scientific instruments
  • Skill enhancement for technicians, graduates, and young researchers
  • Increased shared usage of research facilities through I-STEM
  • Improved inter-institutional collaboration
  • Greater equipment uptime and improved national R&D efficiency

Who Can Apply

Institutions with strong laboratory infrastructure and proven R&D activity are encouraged to apply.

  • IITs, IISERs, IIITs, NITs, Central Universities
  • Research labs under DST, DBT, MeitY, etc.
  • State universities with accredited R&D facilities
  • Reputed public and private research institutions

Expected Outcomes

  • A skilled workforce of scientific operators and coordinators
  • Improved utilization of publicly funded research equipment
  • Standardized laboratory practices based on the I-STEM Handbook
  • Strengthened academia–industry collaboration
  • Contribution to national capability building

The Indian Science, Technology, and Engineering facilities Map (I-STEM) is an interactive web portal designed to accelerate scientific progress in India. This initiative, conceived and supported by the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, creates a centralized platform for sharing publicly funded R&D equipment and facilities across various institutions throughout the country.
