What is #OpenTheLab?

India has invested significantly in public research infrastructure. #OpenTheLab invites institutions to convert declared infrastructure into demonstrated access. This is not charity. This is structured, bounded, operational access.

Who Can Participate?

  • Vice Chancellors
  • Directors
  • Deans
  • Principal Investigators
  • Facility Heads
  • National & State Research Institutions

What Is Required?

Make one clearly defined, institution-governed commitment:

  • ✔ Free access to one identified instrument (defined slots or days)
  • ✔ A structured training or orientation session
  • ✔ Limited free sample testing

For:

  • Women researchers
  • Rural innovators
  • Tier-2 / Tier-3 institutions
  • MSMEs requiring advanced technical access

Each commitment remains: Defined. Capped. Time-bound. Institution-governed. No open-ended liability. No operational uncertainty.

How to Participate?

  • Define one measurable access pledge internally
  • Publicly declare your commitment on LinkedIn using #OpenTheLab
  • Nominate three peer institutions to take the same step

For coordination and documentation, institutions may optionally indicate intent through I-STEM.

A sample LinkedIn declaration format and guidelines will be shared for reference upon confirmation of participation.

What Recognition You Get?

Participating institutions will be recognized as: I-STEM Open Lab Partners

Recognition may be referenced in:

  • Institutional websites
  • NAAC / NIRF documentation
  • Annual reports
  • CSR & outreach disclosures

Infrastructure is not public when it is declared.
It becomes public when it is used.
