User - FAQ

Any Indian citizen who uses or intends to use research and testing facilities for purposes such as experimentation, research, product or prototype development, testing, or validation. This includes, but is not limited to, researchers, academicians, students, start-ups, MSMEs, industry professionals, National Research Laboratory users, grassroots and rural innovators, artisans, farmers, self-taught individuals, and persons from non-formal or underserved backgrounds. No minimum educational qualification is required.

  • Steps to register as a user on the I-STEM portal:
  • Steps: Visit I-STEM portal ---> Register ---> Researcher/User Registration ---> Fill the User Registration Form ---> Provide Captcha ---> Submit
  • Detailed Procedure:
  • Visit the I-STEM portal at www.istem.gov.in.
  • Click the Register link at the top right of the homepage.
  • On the Register page, click the Researcher/User Registration link.
  • Fill in all mandatory fields (marked with *).
  • Validate your Email ID using the OTP sent.
  • Under Academic Information, choose your User Type and Institution. If the institution is not listed, select 'Other'.
  • Provide Research Area details.
  • Enter the CAPTCHA (case-sensitive) and click Submit.
  • Note: After registration, the user will receive login credentials by email once the I-STEM Nodal Centre activates the account. This process usually takes one working day. Only after activation, user can log in to the I-STEM portal and book equipment slots for their R&D work.
  • Mandatory details are marked with a red asterisk (*) and include:
  • 1.Name
  • 2.Gender
  • 3.Email ID
  • 4.Mobile Number
  • 5.Address
  • 6.PIN Code
  • 7.Country
  • 8.State
  • 9.District
  • 10.City
  • 11.User Type
  • 12.Institution
  • 13.Research Area

If your institution's name is not listed, please select Other and provide the required details.

  • Yes, users can update their details in the My Profile section. To do this:
  • 1.Log in as a Public User.
  • 2.Navigate to your name in the top right corner.
  • 3.Click on My Profile, update the necessary information, and click Update.

Double Authentication is an extra layer of security for user login. If enabled, I-STEM sends an approval link to the registered email ID after the user enters their login credentials.

If Email Notification is enabled in the user’s profile, the I-STEM system will send email notifications related to user activities on the portal.

  • Users can update their Email ID and Mobile Number in the My Profile section. To do this:
  • 1.Log in as a Public User.
  • 2.Navigate to your name in the top right corner and click on My Profile.
  • 3.Click on Change Email ID or Change Contact Number, then update the details accordingly.
  • Users can change their password by visiting the Change Password page. To do this:
  • 1.Log in as a Public User.
  • 2.Navigate to your name in the top right corner and click on Change Password.
  • 3.Review the Password Policy before setting up a new password.

Users can reset their password using the Forgot Password option on the login page.

Feedback option is available after the FBR is executed and disappears once submitted.

If user has any query, then Post User Query option can be used which is available while booking the equipment slot.
